There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that features many comforts on top of the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
